I was Interviewed by Bloomberg News!!

It’s funny how things can happen…🤔

A few months ago, I responded to a post on my favorite FB page, She Hit Refresh, which asked if anyone had a story to share about applying for residency or citizenship outside the US and would be willing to speak with a journalist about it.

I had just helped all 4 of my kids apply for their Irish ☘️ passports (my ex is an Irish citizen, so they were already considered citizens – we just needed to apply for their passport – it was super easy!) ☘️🇮🇪☘️

In addition, I was in the middle of applying for my Italian passport, as I learned that I qualify as a citizen of Italy via jure sanguine (by bloodlines) and am entitled to a passport from this wonderful country based on my uninterrupted ancestral lineage!  🇮🇹

And to top it off, a few months back I’d applied for a D7 “non-lucrative” residency visa in Portugal and was planning to relocate to Porto in a few short months  – so I was definitely knee-deep in citizenship applications, copies of birth and marriage certificates, official forms from Dublin, Chicago, Rome, Portugal, San Francisco…and Italian villages I had only just discovered!

From that She Hit Refresh connection, a reporter from Bloomberg News contacted me, and we spoke for about an hour, talking about why I wanted to move, where I was headed, how difficult or easy the application process was for Ireland, Italy and Portugal,  – she asked lots of questions!

Here’s the article –  I hope you enjoy!

But wait…there’s more! 🤭 Today I was contacted by an editor at International Living, a popular publication for expats and folks from Canada 🍁 and the US who are dreaming of moving to or retiring in a foreign country. He had seen the Bloomberg article and reached out, offering to pay me to write an article for them about moving to Portugal! 🥳

How fun is that! Stay tuned for that article (first I gotta write it!)

And suddenly you just know…It’s time to start something new and trust the magic of new beginnings.   Meister Ekhart
