One of the things I love about travel is how it expands your mind, your opinions, your preconceived ideas and notions about people, places and history. I always learn so much about where I am, where I’ve been, and also about me!
But…sometimes it’s not all serious learning and discovery. Sometimes, travel in different countries can be just plain funny. Oftentimes menus and signs have spelling mistakes that can make me giggle. A while back, I posted on the Posts from a Flashpacker Facebook page a collection of photos of funny tee shirts seen in the street markets of Cambodia and Laos. Shirts with a jumble of English words thrown together with absolutely no meaning whatsoever. Sweatshirts with sayings that mean nothing. For some reason, these catch my eye as I am traveling, and I take a quick photo. I find them endearing, tbh.
Here are a couple of signs/labels I found along the way that made me pause –
And here’s what the folks in Kuala Lumpur’s Starbucks thought I said when I gave my name as I ordered my first Starbucks coffee in almost 4 months…ya, I know you’re thinking “they’re not wrong!”
But what I’m excited to share with you here are the photos I’ve found in bathrooms along the way. They are in the category of “things that make you go hmmmm?” I’d like to present to you here my collection of funny/interesting/odd bathroom signs I collected over the four months traveling in Southeast Asia, Bali, and Nepal. Enjoy!
Hahahahaha!!! Wait I remember the keep calm one!!! Was that in one of the airports???!
Keep Calm was in one of the hostels in Bali, I think. 😆
Saw the cold beer sign in Marble CO ! Gave me cause to chuckle too!
How funny – i was just in Marble last week!! ❤️
That was me btw!!
